about

This is the Mitochondrial Sun take on a classic '80's song that's steeped in nostalgia and imagination for those that were around at the time* - Limahl's "Neverending Story".

This is a separate song - originally released on Argonauta Records' "Magick Sun, Mystic Moon" compilation - that's not necessarily indicative of the next Mitochondrial Sun album.

"Limahl's classic song - and the movie itself - was an endless source of imagination and inspiration as a kid, and so was the ZX Spectrum 128k computer game that I spent countless hours of adventure with (it also auto-played the theme song in the background, probably influencing the decision to cover it so many years later).

Of course, not everyone has the same nostalgic connection to an 80's song performed by a guy in a funny haircut, but I appreciate anyone that spends four minutes of their time listening to my version. The goal was to capture the magical melodies and sense of wonder from the original (i.e. not changing the notes around or making things unrecognizable) while still providing a slightly darker edge, especially towards the end."

- Niklas Sundin

*And for those that weren't - Apparently the Stranger Things series featured the song, presenting it to a new audience.
